"The Dr. Oz Show" is no stranger to the aging concerns of women. Dr. Mehmet Oz has brought everyone from dermatologists to plastic surgeons and experts in holistic medicine onto the show, trying to uncover the fountain of youth. Amid all the creams, lotions and herbs, three of his suggestions stuck out -- phytoceramides, topical vitamin C and amino acid combinations.
So, what makes these three so great, when all we've been hearing about are retinol and Botox?
While Dr. Oz doesn't recommend any specific brands, we thought we would build an anti-aging "kit" based on his recent advice, to help you get back that energy and glow of your younger years. Here's our three essentials for Dr. Oz fans and anti-aging enthusiasts:
Step No. 1 -- Start plumping the skin from within.
Anti-Ager to Try: Skin Restoring Phytoceramides with Lipowheat from Life Extension -- 30 Caps for $18.75
Phytoceramides are the ceramides found within plants like wheat and sweet potatoes. They're just like those found within the lipids of our skin, keeping it hydrated from within. As the amount of lipids we have decreases with age, the skin can become dry, thin and begin to sag and wrinkle. Dr. Oz and recommended taking 350 mg of phytoceramides daily to improve skin's appearance instead of getting a drastic surgical procedure. Each liquid capsule provides the recommended 350 mg of non-GMO (genetically modified organism) Lipowheat wheat oil extract, containing glycolipids, ceramides and glycoceramides. Just take it once a day to see the benefits for yourself. However, if you have a gluten sensitivity or celiac disease, you shouldn't take this supplement. Please be aware, results will take at least 12 weeks to be noticeable.
Step No. 2 -- Add a topical treatment.
Anti-Ager to Try: C-Lite Skin Tone Balancer from Jason Natural Cosmetics -- 1 oz for $14.46
Discussed on the same episode as the phytoceramides, topical vitamin C is a great way to get the benefits of this amazing antioxidant that you can't always get from taking it orally. Vitamin C is known to protect and strengthen the cells of skin, blocking out the damages of harmful free radicals and toxins that can dull skin and lead to wrinkles and other signs of aging. Vitamin C also helps correct skin tone. This product from Jason natural Cosmetics contains Ester-C to inhibit the production of melanin, which causes the skin to darken, while lightening existing spots, and all without harsh chemicals that can irritate skin. Used twice a day on a clean face, you can start to see results in about six weeks. When paired with the phytoceramides, skin will and feel smoother and firmer and look brighter.
Step No. 3 -- Improve the health of your whole-body to turn back the clock.
Anti-Ager to Try: Pro-GH from Now -- 21.6 oz for $20.89
As mentioned on the show in October, amino acids can help you look and feel younger, especially when combined. Human growth hormone (HGH) is responsible for maintaining our weight and metabolism, helping the body produce energy and create lean muscle mass. The amount of HGH the body produces decreases drastically with age, and while synthetic versions are available, amino acids are just as effective and safe. Dr. Oz recommended a combined 2,000 mg of four amino acids -- ornithine, lysine, arginine and glycine -- to help reverse these signs of aging. This supplement provides these amino acids plus glutamine and gamma aminobutryric acid (GABA) to help boost energy and endurance, increase lean muscle mass, support the immune system and rejuvenate the skin. Just mix one scoop a day with water or juice and take before bed or exercise.
You can fight aging both internally and externally to keep looking and feeling your best. These great products and more anti-agers are available now at eVitamins!
