Creating Red Palm Oil
Originating in the tropical regions of Africa, red palm oil is produced by extracting it from the flesh of oil palm tree fruit. This tree is called Elaesis guineensis and this process must be done when the palm fruit are bright in color and about the size of plum or peach.

Red palm oil is rich in nutrients like vitamin E and carotenoids (precursors to vitamin A) like beta carotene and lycopene (they give the fruit its color) which act in the body as powerful antioxidants, fighting off free radical damage. Free radicals cause the cells to weaken and age and can lead to illness or visible signs of aging. This oil also contains short-chain and medium-chain fatty acids. How to Use It
Red palm oil is great for cooking, especially at high temperatures like stir frying and sautéing. It's also highly shelf stable, taking on a soft, solid form, similar to coconut oil.
Dr. Oz explained the aforementioned benefits can be obtained by consuming 1 to 2 tbsp of the oil on a daily basis. He emphasized looking for a product that's virgin, organic and produced sustainably, which means the manufacturer is taking care to reduce and/or prevent environmental impact when making the product.
