Hand harvested from only the choice parts of the plant, Kombu Sea Vegetable by Eden Foods is a tasty component of dashi noodle broth.
Kombu, also known as kelp, grows in the wild bathed by steady Arctic currents. The fronds are harvested by hand, taking only the tender central part of the plant. This allows Eden Foods to package the Kombu Sea Vegetable without any additives like MSG to increase tenderness. The natural glutamic salts make this sea vegetable a fantastic flavoring agent.
Kombu Sea Vegetable by Eden Foods is harvested from the still living, wild plants, giving it the highest quality. Order from eVitamins today and save!
Notes: Contains no fat, wheat or gluten. Macrobiotic and certified kosher pareve.
Recommended Use: This sea vegetable is most frequently used to make the delicious Japanese noodle broth, dashi, seasoned with shoyu soy sauce. It can be used, however, to make a variety of soup stocks. Simply place a strip in a pot of water and bring to a boil. Remove the kombu after four to five minutes and discard or chop and use in other dishes. Vegetables, herbs, spices or fish can be added to the stock after removing the kombu. Kombu can also be soaked, chopped and simmered with carrots, onions, squash, daikon or other sweet vegetables. A small piece of kombu added to dried beans helps to tenderize them as they cook.
