Solgar’s Astaxanthin is a high-performance carotenoid harvested from microalgae grown off the Hawaiian coast. This microalgae provides the most concentrated source of Astaxanthin known, delivering 10,000 - 40,000 mg/kg. Astaxanthin is one of the most versatile natural antioxidants in the body. Highly potent in its own right, it may also maximize the body’s use of carotenoids and vitamin E.
Warnings: If you are pregnant, nursing, taking any medication or have a medical condition, please contact your healthcare practitioner before taking any dietary supplement. Not intended for use by children.
Notes: Laboratory studies reveal that Astaxanthin is more effective than vitamins A and E and traditional carotenoids like lutein and beta-carotene in scavenging damaging oxidants. In one in vitro study, the effective dose of Astaxanthin was 100 times lower than that of vitamin E and beta-carotene. The unique structure of Astaxanthin allows it to exist in both lipid and aqueous environments. As a result, Astaxanthin is a far-reaching antioxidant, active in all parts of the body. In addition to its high potency as an antioxidant, Astaxanthin may help the body maximize its use of other antioxidants, prolonging the functional life of vitamin E, beta-carotene, lycopene and glutathione by switching them back "on" after theyve become spent. Research shows that Astaxanthin may also enhance the skins natural protection by acting like vitamin A, which accumulates in the skin and decreases the production of free radicals, which can lead to tissue and DNA damage.
Solgar's Astaxanthin Complex softgels are free of corn, yeast, wheat and dairy products and are formulated without the use of preservatives, artificial flavors or colors.
Recommended Use: As an dietary supplement for adults, take one ( 1 ) softgel daily, preferably at mealtime, or as directed by a healthcare practitioner.

Having been to UCI Irvine, I was told to prepare for diminishing eyesight. Reading is my passion and I noticed that it was getting harder to keep the printed lines straight. Night driving was scary, the oncoming lights blinded me, I read the reviews on Astaxanthin and used one bottle, not really sure if it would help. Well last night I had to drive From Sun City to Chino, Friday eve. traffic, and I COULD SEE! I told the wife, "I can see the lines on the pavement". I just couldn't believe I could see against all that outbound traffic. Needless to say I am ordering more! For me this is a MUST HAVE product. My father is 92 and has perfect eyesight, My hope, with Astaxathin, is to see untill at least 98 yrs. (or more) Only 65 now. Thanks so much.
