About half the brain and eyes are made up of fat. Much of this fat is DHA, which stands for docosahexaenoic acid. DHA is an omega-3 fatty acid and is considered a healthy fat. Many experts agree that starting to supplement with DHA during the first few years of life can be very beneficial to brain development, along with vision and mental focus. Studies have shown that babies with higher DHA levels have better mental and visual function.

DHA can be found in the supplement form or it can be found in natural sources such as in:
