Block Fat Absorption to Lose Weight with FBCx

We all know eating fatty meals can add up when it comes to your weight, but what if you could prevent the negative side effects of those meals altogether? FBCx is a type of fiber that promises to do just that. Read on to learn more.

Consuming high-fat meals on a regular basis can have many negative side effects like increasing cholesterol, which can lead to heart disease, and weight gain, which comes with a bevy of health risks. While no one should eat these meals all the time, what if there was a way to block the absorption of this harmful fat?

Researchers claim FBCx, a new type of supplement, can do just that.

What Is FBCx?
FBCx is alpha-cyclodextrin, which is a type of fiber produced from corn. What makes FBCx unique is that it's a soluble fiber with the ability to bind to the fat you consume through food, locking it into the stool and removing it from the body. This action prevents the fat from being stored, thus promoting weight loss. It also may help lower levels of bad cholesterol, or LDL cholesterol that can lead to the development of plaque in the arteries and put you at risk for a heart attack. Lastly, it may also help your blood sugar remain steady after consuming carbohydrates, which traditionally cause blood sugar spikes and crashes that can lead to overeating.

A 2007 study published in the medical journal Diabetes/metabolism research and reviews involved 66 obese patients with type 2 diabetes. These patients were asked to take either a placebo or 2-1 g tablets of FBCx with fatty meals for three months, without changing their diet in any drastic way. Those who consumed the fiber did see reduced lipids in the blood and also kept their weight stable, while those in the placebo group continued to gain weight. This means, with proper adjustments to the diet and regular exercise, use of the fiber may contribute toward a weight loss goal.

Similar results to the 2007 study were also found in an animal study conducted in 2006 and published in the medical journal, Metabolism. More studies will be needed on more varying groups of participants, but these published results look promising in regard to FBCx serving as a tool to fight obesity.

This fiber was also recently discussed by Dr. Mehmet Oz, who featured it on "The Dr. Oz Show" as a natural way to reduce body fat. (Editor's Note: Dr. Oz is in no way affiliated with eVitamins and doesn't endorse any specific brands or supplements.)

Using FBCx Properly
Fiber supplements should always be taken in small amounts to start with to prevent digestive issues like diarrhea. FBCx is no exception. Dr. Oz recommended taking no more than 2 g of this fiber a couple of times a week, particularly when consuming high-fat meals. Make sure to read product packaging carefully and make note of any side effects you experience.

As with any supplement, speak with your doctor before beginning a regimen with FBCx, specially if you're being treated for a medical condition like heart disease, high cholesterol or diabetes. Your doctor can help you determine the proper dosage and length of treatment.

No weight loss supplement will get you to your goal without the proper support from diet and exercise. Limiting your consumption of unhealthy fats and processed foods, as well as sugar will also help you on your weight loss journey. You should also exercise for 30 minutes a day or five times a week for one hour, including cardiovascular work as well as strength training.
