Ultimate Flora Vaginal Support Formula is formulated to help maintain a healthy balance of vaginal and urinary tract bacteria. The urogenital tract (consisting of the urinary tract and vagina) is second only to the colon in the number of bacterial residents. The healthy vaginal flora consists primarily of the Lactobacillus species and a smaller amount of Bifidobacteria. Ultimate Flora Vaginal Formula reflects this healthy ratio by providing 45 billion live Lactobacillus bacteria and 5 billion live Bifidobacteria.
The 9 strains in Vaginal Support Formula were chosen for their prevalence in the healthy urogenital tract.
In addition to lactic acid, three of the strains of Lactobacillus in the formula (L. rhamnosus, L. plantarum, and L. brevis) produce compounds which help to inhibit the growth of harmful urinary tract bacteria. When the healthy bacterial population is eliminated or unbalanced, yeast and harmful bacteria can become overgrown.
