Describe yourself: I've been using Home Cholesterol Self Test Kit for less than 1 week. I started seeing results or noticing a difference immediately. Home Cholesterol Self Test Kit has no taste.

I am extremely pleased with the Instant Cholesterol Test. After a member of my family had two visits to the doctor where he had blood drawn from his arm and the lab lost, yes, lost the results both times, I decided to see if there was a do-it-yourself way to learn this vital statistic about blood cholesterol. I ordered a kit for everyone in my family. The finger prick is spring-loaded, easy, does not hurt, and is less invasive than having blood drawn from the arm. One of our kits did not work until we poked a little hole in the place where the blood was put (we called the company and they offered to send us a replacement), but other than that, it was easy, worked well, took a fraction of the time, money, and hassle we would have spent at the doctor, and the results seem credible. One of us who had tested high in the past was found to be borderline, and this has already convinced him to further change his eating habits. I think everyone should get these and test themselves from time to time.

I have been using cholesterol testers for 3-4 years but only started with this brand, this year with equally good results. Yes, I would recommend your cholesterol testers and your company to my friends. You have fair prices and good service.

I have verified this product with my doctor's testing of the cholestoral levels in my blood during my 6 month check ups. It is very accurate and I use it in between doctor visits to check cholestrol level status with the medications I am currently taking. The instructions are very good and this is a great product to do home checks.

My cholestrol was over two hundred when I started. The last time I had blood work it was 145. I have blood work again april 15th. I hope it will be even better.

My dad started me on this and I now test my cholesterol every month just to keep me updated. I used to have to go to my doctor to get this done but not anymore. This product really lets me see how effective the vitamins versus my scripts have been. I recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a fast and easy way to check his or her cholesterol.

 What is High Cholesterol?

Although it is by no means the only major risk factor, elevated serum (blood) cholesterol is clearly associated with a high risk of heart disease.

Most doctors suggest cholesterol levels should stay under 200 mg/dl. As levels fall below 200, the risk of heart disease continues to decline. Many doctors consider cholesterol levels of no more than 180 to be optimal. A low cholesterol level, however, is not a guarantee of good heart health, as some people with low levels do suffer heart attacks.

Medical laboratories now subdivide total cholesterol measurement into several components, including LDL (“bad”) cholesterol, which is directly linked to heart disease, and HDL (“good”) cholesterol, which is protective. The relative amount of HDL to LDL is more important than total cholesterol. For example, it is possible for someone with very high HDL to be at relatively low risk for heart disease even with total cholesterol above 200. Evaluation of changes in cholesterol requires consultation with a healthcare professional and should include measurement of total serum cholesterol, as well as HDL and LDL cholesterol.

The following discussion is limited to information about lowering serum cholesterol levels or increasing HDL cholesterol using natural approaches. Because high cholesterol is linked to atherosclerosis and heart disease, people concerned about heart disease should also learn more about atherosclerosis.
