Medication: Catapres TTS 3 Patches - - Stay Far Away
Medication Type: Brand Name
Length Taken: More than 1 year
Strength: X 0 times per day
Side Effects: Anxiety, Dizziness, Dry Mouth, Nausea, Dry Skin, Gave Me A Rash, Upset Stomach / Diarreha, Loss of Sleep, Increased Irritability, Weight Gain
Other Products Taken: Atenelol, Cartia, Synthroid and Bumex
I started taking clonidine in pill form 2 times a day. It made me so sleepy that I could not drive or even work for 1-2 hours immediately after I would take the medication. Just knocked me right out. The doctor switched me to the patches which work much better and do not cause the immediate drowsiness. I have had other various side effects however, which are a problem. Extreme and constant thirst, frequent urination even during the night, dry mouth/throat, cracked lips, and the worst that is restless sleep all the time. Now that I have read other people's reactions, I also wonder if this has caused me to gain weight, be more irritibale and trouble losing weight as well. I am in the process of trying to get my doctor to switch me to another medication because the problem sleeping has really become a problem. I also get very drowsy on my long commute home from work that has almost caused me to have numerous car accidents when I fall asleep at the wheel.

Medication: Clonidine - - Stay Far Away
Medication Type: Generic
Length Taken: Less than 1 month
Strength: X 1 times per day
Side Effects: Dizziness
Other Products Taken:
I was given this medication when I went to the emergency room for numbness in my hand and part of my face. They were releasing me and gave me a Clonidine pill. When the pill kicked in it dropped my heart rate and pressure so low it stopped my heart. Thank God my heart started on its own within 3 seconds. All I can say is I never want to have that pill again.

Medication: Clonidine - - Stay Far Away
Medication Type: Generic
Length Taken: Less than 1 month
Strength: 1-1/2 mg X 1 times per day
Other Products Taken: no
My daughter was given this medication to help her fall asleep. That worked well at first, but then she kept getting up all through the night. For the last two nights, she has fallen asleep quickly, then awakened frightfully. She was so anxious that she couldn't fall back asleep for 1.5 - 2 hours both nights. She wanted the lights on, her door open, and flashlights! It has been awful! Then add to that the severe stomach pain and you have a recipe for drama!
